Developmental Consequences of Incarceration
(Hanover Prison Study)
This subproject, which is a follow-up of the preceeding project "The Consequences of Incarceration", investigates the effects of juvenile imprisonment on individual and social development within the context of a longitudinal research design.

Advisory services specialized in supporting victims of domestic violence

In 19 administrative districts of Lower Saxony a new kind of counselling centres has been installed as an intervention pilot project. These advisory services are specialized in supporting victims of domestic violence after police interventions by an pro-active approach: Police officers pass telephone numbers of victims to counselling centers, then counsellors call victims and offer their help. They give emotional support, counsel victims on safety measures and inform them on the German civil law on violence against women.

Fear of Crime among Older Persons

The aim of this study are twofold. First, methods permitting the more accurate assessment of fear of crime are to be developed using several versions of assessment instruments from earlier studies. This should also help to clarify the theoretical conceptualization of fear of crime. Second, the results of earlier studies on fear of crime among older persons are to be validated and further differentiated.
